It's a Girl! Cards from scraps

My goal was to not cut a new piece of paper, but use the scraps I already had. Everything except the scalloped circle came from a used piece of paper. Even the ribbon was leftover!

Two pics because I was trying two different color pinks. I like the second one better.

The longer this baby takes to get here, the more crafts will fill our apartment :)

Stir Crazy: Hanging Dishtowels and Pencil Case

This is what Pinterest does to me: gives me such a nagging idea that looking at my pins irritates me until I finish a DIY project.

First - a second way to hang dishtowels from your oven, thanks to this tutorial: http://pin-sew-press.blogspot.com/2010/05/tutorial-stay-put-kitchen-towel.html?m=1
The first way I like to sew dishtowels was here

Second - a multi-toned pencil bag, using this tutorial: http://www.aspoonfulofsugardesigns.com/2012/01/how-to-make-pencil-case.html
Estimated time - 1 hour (yeah right!) Those time estimates (cooking or sewing) always make me feel like crap because I never finish it in the time allotted.

Then I ended up making two more in one hour. So I guess the first one tends to take longer. :D

Role Reversal

My first stamping buddy ever was in town this weekend. We met through a mutual friend and I visited her weekly when she was on bed rest with her twin boys. Almost two years later, she came to visit me (she has since moved back to TX) while I'm at home pregnant. It was like no time had passed!

Birthday Card: Little Gift Boxes!

Got this example from here: http://www.keenankreations.com/2011/04/playful-polka-dots-ssk-cards.html?m=1

And made my own:

I think I'm all paper-crafted out for the week!

Getting Buttons Out of My System

I had a guest crafter with me today: Rita! She brought dim sum goodies to share, and afterwards we made cards and listened to Taylor Swift.

I'm trying to get some use out of these buttons that I bought at a craft fair (with Rita, coincidentally). Thus, explaining the excess of buttons.

Happy Anniversary! Buttons!

Buttons. I have alot of buttons, but never use them. My goal with this card was to base the design on starting with buttons first and then adding to it. I also have ribbon from the dollar section at Target- it's pretty useless bc it's only 18 inches long...so I used it on 3 cards like this one.

I like how you can fill in whatever the occasion is above the ribbon.
Although I try my hardest to stay away from handwriting anything these days bc it just doesn't look as good as stamps.

Bed rest

Got my books. My Starbucks mug. All that's missing is coffee. That will have to wait another year or so...

Nursing Cover & Diaper and Wipes Carrying Case Gift

This nursing cover is for my friend who is due 10 days after me. This time I didn't make it reversible so that the nursing cover can be thinner and more breathable.

Demonstrating the use: baby bump not applicable

Other side: towel for spit-up; no reversible fabric this time

Here is a coordinating diaper and wipes case

Some honest brand wipes and newborn pamper swaddler diapers

Burp Cloths and Receiving Blanket: Gender Neutral

My sweatshop has re-opened again, unexpectedly. If people continue to have babies, and I still have the ability and energy to sew, they are getting a homemade gift.

This is for my friend Christine who is 3 weeks behind me in pregnancy: they are not finding out the sex, so gender neutral
It is!

Baby Wong's Nursery

The nesting instincts they talk about are real...I might as well have been a little bird frantically flying around looking for the perfect twig to add to the nest. I wonder of those little bird mommies have bird daddies who look on and shake their little bird heads.

Proud to present the nursery! Thanks to my husband for building and moving everything around!

Yellow & Gray Theme: Gender Neutral Since Planning Began at 16 Weeks

DaVinci Crib, Pottery Barn Kids Wool Chevron Rug, Frames from Ikea, and Paper from Paper Source, Middle Frame inspired by Pinterest and love of fat chubby animals, Crib Skirt is homemade!

The changing table is actually just a West Elm desk we have had since we were married. Recognize the changing pad cover I made?

Up close view of artwork before it was hung!

Nursery Curtains

I was commissioned to sew curtains for a friends nursery, whose baby is 10 weeks older than our child yet to be named. Just saw them hung up with grommets today in their nursery. They figured out the grommet part, thankfully.

Hostess Gifts!

I was privileged to be thrown a second baby shower by my dear friends in Pasadena. So to say thank you, I sewed them some little pouches and filled them with chocolate. Kinda went crazy with the pics. Thanks Grace, Rita, Laura, Priscilla, Liz, and Angela!!
