I got this idea from Chrissy, who just made some for her home. The blog post she used was very detailed and so I thought I'd give it a try: http://365days2simplicity.blogspot.com/2011/04/easy-no-sew-roman-shades.html?m=1
I just added bias tape to my duck cloth. It felt too plain being all gray. And if you see everything else I sew, I have to have color or there is no point in sewing!
I was very pleased with how the bias tape turned out, considering this was my second time seeing with it. Don't look too close, bc I did not hand-stitch the front. It is machine-sewn. The baby will not be able to tell.
Next was gluing the blinds to the fabric. On my hardwood floors, my knees took a beating! Anyway glad it's over and I'm never doing these again!
Step 1: Sew on bias tape
Gluing the blinds straight using hot glue was the most challenging!
Will have to buy a step stool first before JDubb can install these blinds- they measure 85 inches! More pics to come.
Update: we bought more vinyl cording because what came with the mini blinds was not sufficient for how long we extended them to be. I think it cost $8.
Justin just hung these this weekend and they really do black out the window in the mornings.
Picture above: taken in the afternoon, when the sun is stronger. So it won't be pitch black during Naptime. She'll live.
So two months later, these curtains are up!
